As animators and animation instructors we often talk about the value of creating a short film. There is debate as to whether or not a short film course is a valuable addition to an animation curriculum.

One of the arguments against having a short film requirement is that it is too difficult to tell a worthwhile story in a film that is short enough for a single artist to be able to create.

Well, here is a site that blows that theory out of the water. The 5 Second films all follow the same format. 2 seconds of beginning titles, 5 seconds of film, 1 second of end titles. Even at only 5 seconds these films tell a complete story and some of them are genius.

If these films can do it in 5 seconds there is no excuse to not be able to do it in 30.
